DHCP and Weird Hostnames

Believe it or not, I dusted off my Ninetendo 3DS and Apple iPods.

When it came time to configure it and attach it to my ISC DHCP server, the server rejected the devices’ DHCP-REQUEST message.

A closer look showed that the hostname was funky for various reasons:

Systemd and ISC DHCP Client

This page is about using ISC DHCP client (`dhclient`) in systemd environment.

I must be one of the surviving user that uses both ISC dhclient and systemd.

Primarily because systemd DHCP cannot handle DHCP-Options (not options, but Options). The ones that Juniper JunOS DHCP server requires for Verizon FiOS.
